It’s hard to believe we are already at the end of January … it seems almost a little late to wish you all a happy and fulfilling 2015. The big question that is often asked, to which no-one has the answer, is what lies ahead for our lives, the economy, the stock markets, among the many things that will shape the year.
The best news for the start of the year was the huge drop in the price of fuel, the obvious benefit being that all consumers will have a little more money in their pockets. The ripple effect of this is a drop in inflation, a welcome relief for all consumers. This, in turn, should delay the gradual increase in interest rates which were forecast for the year ahead.
Expanding our crew
At Chartered, we are off to a great start! We have five new staff joining us in February and look forward to welcoming Patrick Madden and his staff and clients to Chartered. Patrick has run a financial planning business for the past 30 years; his business enjoyed being awarded a finalist in the top Financial planning practices in South Africa in the year that we were so fortunate to have won the award.
A great resource for readers
The other really exciting news from Chartered is Kim’s new book: RETIREMEANT: Get the Most Meaning from your Money will be on the shelves in book shops all over South Africa in the next week or two. Kim has worked on her book for the past few years and the final moment has arrived! I have been fortunate enough to have a sneak preview, and the stories and messages from the book are an essential inspiration for everyone who is near, at or in retirement. I personally feel it’s a must-read for everyone, as so many youngsters today have a dream of earning a fortune and then retiring, but never really consider what life after that will look like.
We look forward to seeing many you at the upcoming client presentations in the weeks to come and once again wish you and your families all the very best for 2015.
