As a para-planner for Certified Financial Planner, Christina Forman, at Chartered Wealth Solutions, Zanele Miya counts herself fortunate to have had the opportunity to grow into the role. “I was initially nervous to engage with clients over the phone,” says Zanele, “but have really enjoyed the interaction and realising that being that link between the planner and her client is central to the company’s philosophy of putting the client first.
In addition, Zanele is enthusiastic about being involved in educating the South African public on financial literacy. “It is about more than planning for retirement,” Zanele says. “There are so many aspects of financial wellness, beginning with knowing what to do with the money you earn. So, a budget is a start, and then, planning for all the transitions and unforeseen circumstances is so empowering.”
Zanele seeks to communicate these values to her nine-year old son, and three-year old daughter. “Spending time with them is a priority, and teaching them to be honest and to have integrity is important to me.”
