Belinda’s acclamation towards Financial Planning was not always a decisive career path. In the theme of navigation, after school she took to a rather turbulent sea to find out what she was truly passionate about.
After taking a gap year in New Zealand in 2015 as a ‘Stooge’ formally known as a Student Teacher and gaining a wider understanding of what exactly she wanted to do and who she was, she still did not come to a career ‘epiphany’.
All she knew was that she had an enquiring, analytical mind and loved interacting with people. She then decided to hone in on these interests and majored in a BCom in Investment Management and Economics at Stellenbosch University in 2019. At a crossroads choosing between an Honours Degree in Economics and Financial Planning, she decided to venture into something different and new, pursuing her Post Graduate Diploma in Certified Financial Planning at the University of Stellenbosch Business School in 2020.
Her interest in finance was encouraged from a young age, as her mother always reiterated the importance of being financially independent and taking control of her own finances. The affinity towards empowering women to attest a mainly, male dominated Industry grew as she was inspired by key female businesswomen who have pioneered the industry. Subsequently she saw the gap that people needed for financial advice as people no longer have pension funds to soley rely on for retirement anymore. More and more people are realizing they cannot afford to retire and see the value in saving from a younger age in order to achieve their life goals.
In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family and friends, being outdoors (is an avid jogging enthusiast!) , has a soft spot for pets (all) and loves to hum a tune or two!
